The Problem of Noise

Noise pollution is one of the most common social problems in modern times. Since all kinds of audio gadgets and machines have been invented by means of advanced technology to enhance the pleasure of luxurious yet lazy living for humans, they have slowly started contaminating our social environment by their inevitable nature of necessity in every household. Nowadays such commodities are taken for granted and humans are dependent on them. However once we have created them for the hope of making our life much easier, we now face some serious problems arising from the use and abuse of such commodities - noises, pollution, endangered species, climate change, gradual reduction of ozone layers and so forth. It is an analogy with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. We have created so many monsters who have now begun dominating and threatening our life for we have gone too far for the sake of greed and glitz. Fast cars, airplanes, Walkman's personal stereos, audio hi-fi, dishwashers, vacum cleaners, televisions, satelite TVs, radios, mobile phones, computors, food processors,chain-saws,lawn mowers, and endless lists of other items,oh and atom bombs as well..With the growth of the population in many cities houses are crammed into a small space without any gap amongst them.
As for noise, here we can see some changes through many decades: a village consisting of about 20 residents was a peaceful and quiet place with clean air and much preserved nature. In summer at night, residents could enjoy some frog chorus from bushes and retire to bed with natural bliss. Twenty years has passed and the village has turned into a city crammed with houses and noisy traffic congestion with queues of cars which emit fumes. We hear kids screaming in one house and a teenager blasting out loud dance music in the other. At night some find it hard to get to sleep because of the noise arising from a busy road nearby or from the next door neighbour who watches TV loud. It can be a living nightmare. What has become of old virtues and moralities? We are getting more concerned about ourselves than others, and so selfish and shameless we have become that we don't seem to consider very much about the outcome of our conduct. This is not to entail that behaving in such manner is wrong. However there should be a limit to what you can do so as not to cause any disturbance and displeasure to others.People often mistake freedom for an exclusive power to do what one wishes regardless of others' opinions on one's conduct. But you are also liable for the outcome of your own action as well. There should be no excuse for driving over the speed limit just because you had a bad day.Subsequently if you die in the accident, that is your responsibility too.You have met your deserved end. Or in another case where a person, being too lazy to walk up to the rubbish bin, throws away the packet of crisps on the pavement,he or she would be liable for creating a mess on the public road. Furthermore the person would be liable for 'encouraging' other senseless people to do so in a similar circumstance. What if everyone started throwing rubbish away?
People do not appreciate basic values of many kinds until they learn some lessons. We have taken it for granted for possessing useful commodities such as cars and Walkman's only to find later that the abuse of them would cause some environmental problems.Place yourself in the position of the person who is living next to noisy neighbours who have no idea of what they are causing. If your neighbour plays music loud or does DIY at odd hours very next to your room, you would probably find it unpleasant esp.if you are about to go to sleep. One thing I find repugnant is that people have become so selfish and manipulative that they say their action is inevitably necessary for the sake of their interest.Such is a cheap excuse for vulgar people with no sense. People should act with moderation and more consideration to others for the fear that it would come back to teach them a lesson. If they cannot do so, they might as well live like wild animal in an anarchy(I apologize to those animals for they are more 'intelligent' than humans sometimes). The noise problem is only a tip of the iceberg, and presumably there is more to come in the future unless we start finding a solution to them.
Some proposals to noise problem
There should be a law as to exactly when and to what extent one can play music or create noise and it has to be enforced.
All the audio hi-fi should be fitted with noise reduction device, without which they should be made illegal.
Companies which produce such audio equipments are encouraged to do R&D on noise reduction and simultaneous fine stereo sound which does not penetrate nor vibrate.
People should be more CONSIDERATE to other neighbours with regards to noise. It would create amicable relations between neighbours.
Think of the situation where you would be involved in this kind of dispute over noise. Sometimes noise disputes could kill people

What is the air pollution?
Pollution has its origins in the Latin word polluere, means 'contamination of any feature of the environment'. Pollution has the following characteristics.

1-It is the addition of substance at a faster rate than the environment can accomodate. Certain pollutants like arsenic or mercury have natural levels in nature, but only if these levels exceed certain critical values can they consider being pollutants.
2-Pollutants are not only chemicals, but also forms of energy like heat, sound (so noise pollution) and radioactive rays.

3- To be a pollutant, a material has to be potentially harmful to life.

4-Pollution is the only result of human activities.
Air pollution
The layer of air which supports life extends about 8 km above the Earth's surface and is known as troposphere. The composition of air remains remarkably constant except there may be small-localised variations. Air pollution has existed since humans first used fire. The problem becomes significant since the industrial revolution in the 19th century. Almost all air pollutants is the result of burning fossil fuels, either in the home, by industry or in internal combustion engine.

1-Affects human health
One may have symtomps such as headaches, irritation of eyes, nose and throat, nausea and general ill feeling. Respiratory diseases may also observe.
2-Affects plants
Some plants such as lichens are sensitive to pollutants. Lichens can as a bio-indicator. Other plants may be destroyed by altered mud acidity and release of poison metal ions.
3-Damaging effects on surroundings
Metals corrode, stoneworks weather by acid rain
