Muharraq is one of the most important cities in Kingdom Of Bahrain. It has a population of 44,684 people and is located on Northeastern top of the Kingdom. Muharraq is seven miles square. The main language is Arabic but English is spoken too.people in Muharraq are kind, friendly and helpful.
Muharraq was called Arados in the third century B.C.B. it was established on 1796 by Shaik Abdullah Ben Hammed Aal Khalifa and it acquired importance and attracted the hordes to be settled in it, so it became the capital, then the capital moved to Manama. Muharrag was called with this name because there were kings living in this area, they used to punish their enemies by burning them.
There are many places to go in Muharraq. Its souq is more interesting than the one in the capital and there are a couple of well preserved traditinal houses like Bait Al Shaik Esa and Bait Seyadi. Also, there are some parks and restaurant that you can go to.
In Muharraq , you can do different interesting activities like, horse riding, horse racing, diving and playing Golf.
